Yeah but he did say this just started happening and worked before, so I wouldn't assume it could be because of the processor, and that graphics card is great for todays games!

Have you recently installed a new video driver? I've heard the newest one does have incompatablity issues, and so it might be best to revert back to the one before it. You might find this will be causing the freezes as it's happening within games.
Its the only thing I could have thought would have changed.
