Question About Motherboards and Reformatting

I have an ASUS P4S800-MX motherboard waiting to be installed at the moment. But I'm getting mixed reactions on what I have to do to install it.

One person is telling me that I NEED to reformat my computer before I can install the motherboard.

And a bunch of other people are telling me that I need not reformat to install my motherboard.

So as you can see I'm kinda confused on what to do, because I don't really wanna wait and buy another harddrive before I can install my motherboard.

Any opinions/comments? Oh and if this helps. My current motherboard is a different brand from my ASUS one, I just don't remember what it was.

well..is there anything that i need to do anyway if i wanna install it without reformatting?

i heard that it takes a while for the comp to get used to the new motherboard also. any help on that please?

anything is greatly appreciated.

once the drivers and possibly monitoring software (if it came with such) is installed then im pretty sure it will be fine.
someone correct me if im wrong!
