^^^OK wait, that doesnt make any sense. It costs them the same amount of moeny to make the card, so the only one who is getting ripped off by selling the card for cheaper after locking the pipes is the actual manufacturer. So please explain the ideology behind this b/c it just doenst make sense in the business world.

It's just a way for manufacturers to give some variety for their customers.

athlon64fx is the only guy to say something that makes sense. Serioulsy think about it...its not about giving the customer variety at the expense of a profit. It would probably actually cost the manufacturer more to close the pipes after making 2 identical cards, b/c its extra work. The only way this is possible is if they are making 2 different cards, both with 16 pipes, but one that only has 12 functioning and that process is cheaper to them, therefore they are able to seel the card cheaper to the consumer. Ohterwise they have a HUGE markup on the cards with all pipes open, btui thats unlikely as there isnt much room in any type of electronics for that kind of markup.

The business world is all about the profit guys, nothing more and thats the only way u can look at it.
