wireless goes down every time someone picks up the phone

I have a linksys 802.11b 2.4ghz wireless router and my computer upstairs is hardwired to the internet. I have a d-link 802.11b wireless card in my desktop downstairs. The wireless 2.4ghz telephone is right inbetween the router and the wireless computer. Everytime someon picks up the phone the internet conection downstairs goes really slow or stops completely. If someone picks up a corded phone nothing happens. I think this is because both the router and the phone have 2.4ghz frequencies, so if there anyway to solve this problem??? I haven't tried changing channels yet, but would that really help???

try changing channels!!! if possible get a new phone thats 5 GHZ range so it will most defiatly not cause interferrence. cordless phones are really cheap. easier to replace that then upgrade to 802.11a which runs @ 5 GHz but isnt as great range but maintains a faster overall speed over a greater distance. that may require new router and cards

Yeah, the 2.4GHz standard always interfered with the cordless phones because they are using the same frequency.
