My opinion is that you should get some members. It is already on what looks a good forum host.

This is my theroy: 10% of your total members should be mods, 1% admins (choose carefully.) That way, it's enough to cope. So if you have 50 or 50, 000 members, you know that you have enough mods! I find it works, but don't start getting mods 'til you have about 15 members.
 
the 10% idea sounds good, but a forum with 50,000 members means there would be 5000 mods

as for this forum, 6,000 members means 600 mods
 
With 600 mods, I think it'll mean that spam will be removed but it is a bit unmanagable

Also, you need to work it out from your ACTIVE members, otherwise you end up with too many.
 
to many mods scare potential members away, no one likes to see a forum dominated by staff
 
yep that is true, don't want to over dominate the forum, so to get around this, make most of the people you want mods regular member's.

when other's start to join, change the status of the selected mods when you start to get more member's.
