im thinking of upgrading my Emachines T2642 from its weak 256mb ram to a hearty 728mb ram. Im not completly sure what to buy, although i have found one that would be nice if it worked correctly on my computer. Here are my computers specs...

Processor 1 x Intel Celeron 2.6GHz
Processor Data Bus Speed 400MHz
Installed Quantity 1
Max Processors Supported 1
System Memory
System Memory 256MB DDR SDRAM - 266MHz - PC2100

And here is the memory i want to buy...

pqi POWER Series 184-Pin 512MB DDR PC-2100 - Retail

Model# MD6412UOE
Item # N82E16820141173

Specifications:
Manufacturer: pqi

Type: 184-Pin DDR SDRAM
Error Checking: Non-ECC
Registered/Unbuffered: Unbuffered
Cas Latency: 2.5

so please tell me if it would work i would be thrilled if it would for only $40.00 at newegg.

That ram is really low quality. You'll se a performance increase, but not as good as you could be getting. What speed is your ram right now?

pc2100 , 184 pin.. i just want to know if it works because my computer is poor at playing CS:s and other new titles and i would like it to be a bit better without upgrading the video card

Yeah, 2100 isn't good. You'd be better off just getting rid of that stick, and getting a new, quality 512mb stick that's DDR-400. A 512MB PC-3200 stick is better than 728MB PC-2100.

yea i have 2 of those things and there great.i have found nothing wrong w/ it yet cept for ocing. i dont kno y the pak of 2 was $30 more than just buyin 2 sticks but w/e. doesnt matter tho. btw wat vid card do u have?

They aren't good for OC'ing cuz of the latency. You have to pay more if you want better quality ram like Corsair XMS which has better latency. The value sticks are always just for budget and like that's, you can't really do any extra things with them except the basics. But if you put in more cash then you get better performance and OC'ing ablities. And my video card is in my sig.
