what is BBS?

On the site it explains. BBS is short for Bulletin Board System. Or in other words, this forum.

"BBS: The Documentary" is an 8 episode series about all aspects of the history of the dial-up Bulletin Board System, or BBS

Not so like this forum...

But more like a peer to peer sort of thing. I would run the bbs software with files to be download and /or a message system and you would call my system and log in. From there you upload your files and or download my files. It was first come first served. Not like modern forums or web site where many users are on at the same time.

But it's still the same idea. It's easier to understand that a BBS is basically a forum. Obviously they were different in consideration to the "dial-up" days.
