Its kinda noob question but, why isnt the Itanium 2 good for the averager user ( please ignore price) I know there expensive but it has 9megs of L3 cache, and why doesnt dual processing help u out? Like why arent Dual PIII 1.4ghz equivalent to P4 2.8ghz?

Server cpu's are most reliable and stable then processing power. When you buy like a xeon or something, it wont do well on games but might do great on reloability and flie transfer or something that just isnt helpful to a pc person. They arent nearly desinged for the home user.

Shorten your sig to 5 lines or less.

Anyways, L3 cache means it is almost impossible to overclock the processor unless you can hunt out very speific steppings, so if you want to overclock, the old Extreme Edition and all server chips are not good buys.
