AMD 64bit questionS!

o so i should get a amd 64 3000+ winnie n it'll overclock to the same speed as an 3200+ or 3500+

KK money_man here are the 754 results. These are overclocked, if you want the normal results for either socket again just ask.

CD Ripping - 3000+ 1.30 3200+ 1.36
MPEG-2 encoding - 3000+ 1.30 3200+ 1.30
Image Editing - 3000+ 1.58 3200+ 1.63
Overall - 3000+ 1.40 3200+ 1.44
Doom 3 - 67.7fps 3200+ 67.6fps
PiFast (lower is better) - 3000+ 51.40 3200+ 51.30

AS you can see, the 3200+ actually with overclock further than on the 3000+ on the 754 platform. All the processor were overclocked with their stock coolers until they would not run stabley.

And also, I have just glanced over and it seems the overclocked 939 3000+ will beat both the 3000+ and the 3200+ (overclocked) on the 754, so GET THE NEW ONE!

That doesnt really say anything. it shows how they preformed. Im talking about acctual OC's.

And what I'd say is, if the 3000+ 939 is performing better than it is most probable that it gets a higher GHz than the 3200+ 939. It is impossible to compare the GHz cross platform though, as they started on different levels.

Anyway, why does the GHz matter, isn't the the performence? I wouldn't care if I was running a AMD FX-55 at 1MHz if it was performing better than at 3000GHz.

Ok. GHz is like 3.2GHz. Mzh is like 3200 which equals 3.2GHz. All it means is speed. Now it really depends. I would check out OCforums.com for more information on this. Just post a topic there about it.

hey man i am in the same situation you are in looking at the same products you are. I would say dont go for it. If you allready have a computer that runs good and will play your games...keep it. I decided to keep my 2600+ until the 64bit world is a little more advanced and actually has 64 bit apps. Hope i could help

jack22 ur wrong. A Socket 939 3200+ DOES NOT run at 3.2GHz, it runs at 2.0GHz. A Socket 939 3000+ runs at 1.8GHz. A Socket 754 3200+ runs at 2.2GHz and on the same platform a 3000+ runs at 2.0GHz.

The 939 3000+ is better and faster than the 754 3000+ because it has dual channel memory. If you're going to give out information, make sure it's right!
