Any idea of companys and how to do this

I am looking into setting up a on line televison channel. which if have news, a few programmes that some of my freinds are doing for there degree in media.

Yet i have no real idea how to do this, toying with the idea at the moment.

It will not be live streaming say set the programes a week in advance then it plays though though intial alot will be repeats.

Ideas on how to do this would be great.

To make your tv show streams

First you will need a webcamm etc

then download the windows media player encoder to record it http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Windows_Media_Encoder/

That should export them as a wmv format and then just upload it and find a embeded mediaplayer script for your site so users can watch it from your website. Dreamweaver gives you the option to use a embeded version.

Windows media encoder also gives you the option to broadcast live from your computer

I am looking for a slightly more professsional look than a webcam and even have a room put aside for a stuido which we are build a set on.

It doesnt have to be a webcamm


you can also use a video recorder and encode it using media player encoder as well.

depends what your streaming..

If you say cable.. it will have nothing to do with windows. God, windows is a bad stream system. Real is good so far..

I hear http://www.nullsoft.com/nsv/ is a good one. I use that to encode my files into winamp files

I dont realy have a fav encoder i use any that i can get my hands on

Or maybe quicktime ? even tho i think quicktime is too horrible but it is good for online streaming.

Basiclly we will be doing a music video channel for large periods will live presenters, and pre-recorded programes on movie review, a gadget program and a gamers program, to start with.

Maybe even news once or twice a day.

Income to pay for this will be receive in the following forms

text messages - 25p a message
preimiem rate number phone in - 50p a min
and adverts - though as no one likes adverts we are haveing a small section at the bottom of the screen for banners @ 19.99 a month or £180.00 for the year.

I have looked around and like the 100 mbps package with unlimited downloads from http://www.servepath.com/hosted/streaming_servers_windows.htm

Only reason why i am leaning towards media player is everyone on a windows machione has it.
