Closing Ports

Well, I was sitting at my computer and wondered just how secure my computer was. I started jumping to different websites that scan how secure my ports are. Everything was looking good until I went to Sygate Online Services and ran the UDP Scan and got this:

Ports open:
80, 135, 137, 138, 139, 445, and 1900

Never did this before, so how do I close ports? Keep in mind that the results from the scan was with Norton Internet Security 2005 running. I'm also connected to a Linksys router with three other computers.

I also noticed that when I disabled everything from Norton and went to check my internet security on Symantec's website, it said I was well protected. Guess that's my router at work.

You don't want to close all your ports. Here is a site that tells you what each port is used for and you can close ports at your own discresion. Ports If you have linux you can get a Netfilter. If you have windows get a good firewall Zone Alarm . And here is a link to more of an answer to your question: Closing A Port .
