That's pretty much impossible that he is getting a mere 15C with a shitty stock cooler. Even if it was water cooled he wouldn't be getting that. He was bullshitting.

Ok, i got a pressy and it idles at 40 with a 50$ HSF. Your friend was BS'ing you. 40C isnt bad...i would have gotten a zalman but i hope your "heat problem" works out.

Yer i'll post the new average temp when it arrives here and i get it fitted (tuesday) I presume it will come with a ready made thermal pad on it, should i leave that on and put a tad of arctic silver on the core aswell? Or forget the thermal paste and just put the heatsink on how it is..

Take the pad off and apply good thermal grease

Thats what i did with this one...scraped it off with a screwdriver lol...What does the thermal pad do, does it make it any hotter?

oh no i've been reading my fan master...says on my mobo software that its runnin at 61 celcius (141 farenheit) surely this aint right...lol

well its in...and its about 5-10 degrees lower
