From the general atmosphere on this forum, I think that more people are for GNU/Linux than Windows. I am for these people. However, I am quite certain that many of these people still occasionally use Windows, whether it's for work, games, or whatever. So if you partain to this group of people, or have a question or comment, tell me! I am simply curious!

If you want, I can go first. I use it, because our main computer is a Windows box, it has served us well and throwing it out would be a shame. The members of our household do not want to switch to GNU/Linux and some things like the printer, etc. are connected to the Windows Box only. I also need to use it at school!

I do like windows though for an easy interface but i like linux for my server

An easy interface? Does that mean you like the GUI?

Because GNOME and KDE are pretty similar to Windows in that way...

I use linux when I can but am limited to windows in many areas as I need to use Autocad 2005 which won't run in WINE becuase it is designed to emulate the windows 98 environment

I game alot, so Im basically tied down to windows, other than a few games out there like ut2k4, most games dont run on linux, but as other people have said before, I do like to use it on the server at my shop.

And why do you have to use Autocad?

The reason for this is that I do 3D computer modelling as a student and also have to draw complex orthographic views as I am studying Graphic Communicaion and everything is done on computers using Autocad which happens to be the industry standard for computer drawing. So if there is a better open source alternative or something similar that will run on linux I would be very interested to know.

The GIMP is designed to be a relpacement for photoshop, Autocad is a highly piece of specialised software of which there are no alternatives that I am aware of at the moment.
