Hi,

My pc have 256 MB RAM, recently brought one more 256 MB, but it made my system hang at times because of memory mismatch problem.

Now i am considering to buy two matched 256 MB memory (total 512 MB).

My

Motherboard: Intel D845GVSR
CPU: Celeron 1.7 Ghz

I checked Kingston site

They have different DDR RAM like

256MB 266MHz DDR PC2100 DIMM CL2.5
256MB 333MHz DDR PC2700 DIMM CL2.5

Buying PC2700 will be better ?

Site says

DDR333 requires processor running at 533MHz system bus. D845GVAD2 supports DDR333 only on board AA numbers C18931-104 and higher, C18934-106 and higher, C18467-105 and higher, and C18472-105 and higher with 533 MHz system bus.

So this RAM will work on my configuration ? or i have to select the "256MB 266MHz DDR PC2100 DIMM CL2.5"

What is meant by PC2100 and PC2700 ?

Regards,

Yujin

2100 runs at 266mhz and 2700 runs at 333mhz, you would benefit from using the 333mhz, but the performance increase would be minimum...you can get two of 256mb 2100 or two of the 2700 256mb

zoomtm, thanks for the info.

Then i will buy PC2700, just want to confirm it work with my CPU.

i am selling sticks of 256 MB DDR PC2700 333mhz CL2.5 if you are interested

Thanks all for the help.

I tried 3 different memory on my PC. All have similar problems. At last i decided not to upgrade the memory as i have to buy another PC. I will get more memory on that PC.
