I have 256mb ram and I want 512mb ram. I was told that it is possible to buy "RAM sticks" from a computer retail store, like office max or staples or a store more specialized, and that it was relitivly easy to instal them yourself. Is this true or would I have to take it to a repair or maintnence shop to get this done?

It is fairly easy. All you have to do is open up your case, and on your motherboard, open up the clips, place the ram, and clip it back down. But make sure the ram is compatible. Also, if you wants pictures, you can search on google.

It's so easy its' like putting a Q-Tip in your ear! But, you have to buy the right type.
So why not diconnect your PC, and bring it to a computer parts dealer and tell them you want to add 256 or 512 Meg of RAM. If your mobo has dual channel capability then he will likely suggest an identical 256 Meg stick.
