Hey everyone. Can someone Tell me if an AMD Athlon XP 3000+ would be a good upgrade from a 2000+, and would I see any performance difference between than and my old 2000+. The 2000 is at 1.7, and i belive that the 3000+ is a 2.167 stock. Anyway, I need a good proc for Counter Strike Source, because right now i think thats the thing thats slowing me down in the game. Average fps: low 40's, and during a huge firefight drops literally down to about 12 fps. Any help would be Fantastic. Thanks

I think Athlon XP's are socket A's, right? I really don't know of another way you can go, but that upgrade seems good!

Yea, it can't be the graphics card for instance, because I have that and have no problems with Counterstrike source... Make sure though that you have the latest drivers from ATI. These can introduce speed boosts in newer games :)

Yea that CPU sounds fine.

Now, let's not get confused here... 99nasha, you're getting (at least what you said) an Athlon 64 3000+, and he's getting Athlon XP 3000+... They're different!

I dont know how this translates to Euro's or pounds or whatever your using, but I bought my +3200 barton for like 150 something US Dollars
