booting xp in command prompt

yer unfortunately on 98 it was just holding F8 before the boot screen

but how do i do it with xp? i tried f8 before the boot screen but i do not get any option of booting in command prompt. i just need to delete a file which is constantly in use so i g2 do it b4 windows boots, i thought i wud do what i did on 98 but it does not work on xp

so then, how do i boot xp in dos (no wait... command prompt) :D

try F2, ctrl+del, del, or continual F8. I am surpised that this does not work. What file are you trying to remove?
