i just finished building my comp and turned it on. it isnt recognizing my sata hd. i check all the wires and they are snug

windows doesn't come with proprietory suport fior SATA drives or controllers...
you'll have to download them from the manufacturers website...

when installing windows press F6 as soon as the installing screen first goes blue, this will let you specify additional drivers to be used in the set up, they are loaded from a floppy disk.

i have a floppy disk with the sata drivers but dont know how to configure it

You have to make sure your mobo is set for it. By default most mobo are set IDE. Check it out and change it to SATA + IDE.
