Computers Not Seeing One Another

mite be that u need to fix the dns where u fix the ip ?

mine needs that (conexant on demon bbned dsl )

yes I tried everything I set that up so my connections were faster to a certian server i needed to access alot.

So routers arn't the be all and end all of trouble free networking then?

like I said, if you have networking troubles then throwing cash at a simple problem that only requires thought is not going to help...

well thats just for advanced stuff that might not work for the type of connection. also has to do with other factors and your ISPs network contrbutes to alot of the static routing issues sicne they decide thier backbones pretty much.

and also routers have solved lots of problems and what if wireless were to come into play. routers make it eaiser to expand your networks!

no, nat (network address translation) allows many computers to browse from the asme IP.

NAT is in charge of sorting the reply packets to the machine the request packets came from on the network.

yeah and it also stops the packets that go to your external ip adress like worms and stuff no way for them to know your internal and its great *echo*:S
