netbios

my netbios doesnt work at all, same with net send. when i type in ipconfig /all it says that netbios is disabled. ne ways to enable it? thx in advance for any help, peace.

If net send is disabled chances are the alerter service is stoped..

open the services conntrol pannel and start the service.

ok well i go to cmd prmpt and type in
net start alerter
i get the message : service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated in it.
in control panel i couldnt find services so i just typed in net services then it told me to type in net start and got to those. what should i try now? k thx

look in the administrative tools section of the control pannel...

Or to go straight there click on start press run and type services.msc

ok i got to the services and started alerter and switched the mode to automatic. but i still get the message the host or alias can not be found. but its a computer on my network. ill mess around with it a bit more, thx for explaining it.
