I'm wondering, is there such a thing? A SATA to IDE converter, or something along those lines? Or is that impossible?

Yes, interesting enough, but why lose the capacity of a SATA (150 Mb/s) for an IDE (100>133Mb/s). Also, there is on the market SATA cdrom which uses a conversion device; useful when you used up all your IDE connections but have a SATA connection left on your mobo.

Because, Linux, the only OS worthy enough to run on my server ;) , doesn't feature SATA support until their newest kernel version, and half of the distros are outdates and use the older version, so i can't install my favorites, like Slackware on SATA.
