It appears that the laptop can't see the cd reader installed on the laptop so how do I get it to recognise it bearing in mind that its in safe mode
I can't get it to go into diagnosis mode on start up

Yeah - reinstalling sounds like the best idea.

This is probably a dumb question but bare with me

I can't reinstall my os Because the laptop won't read off the cd and all the software I got doesn't have a floppy version or boot disk....also i can't find what is wrong with the cd drive because its in safe mode and won't let me F2 (diagnostics)on start up.
