Hmm. I only have a hotmail for msn messenger though so oh well.

They haven't blocked it. If you use MSN Premium you can get MSN Outlook Connector and use MSN through that.

Nah, Thunderbird won't do it anymore either. They've blocked Hotmail from it, not Outlook from Hotmail.

one question... arent they all microsoft any way (OE and hotmail/msn) so whats the benefit to microsoft for making 2 of their programs incompatiable????

I'm still using Outlook for mine. and i was using OE last week...
Dunno maybe its just newer accounts. I've had my hotmail account for 7 years and it still works fine.

Well I fix a lot of computers and I have seen this in two cases.
One, if you don't have XP as your operating system, it won't work with Outlook anymore, Microsoft wants to sell their operating system and want to discourage users by pulling tricks like the Outlook hotmail combo.
Secondly, if you have XP but do not have a private email account with your ISP already linked with Outlook, then hotmail on Outlook won't work. You will have to enter your ISP email account before the hotmail account, and not the opposite.
