if you do you'll have to configure the samba server and the domain and all that sort of carry on if it's a windows network, that's past my level of linux at the moment so i won't be of much use trying to help you.

yes, i will ask my physics teacher to set it up for me, he has linux and his wireless intermet works so it can be set up. thanks for all the help that you have given me, it has been really useful

About the MS Word files, if you use OpenOffice, they should be able to be opened right away with it. If you don't use Open Office then I reccomend you use it. It is free (both beer and freedom and excellent)
