IRQL issues when installing WinXP

Hey guys, maybe you can help me solve this problem on my friends laptop.

When I try to reformat and reinstall WinXP, right after EULA it goes to the blue screen with "IRQL not equal not less" error and a Stop0x0000000A with the parameters.

She tried to fix a previous error beforehand and ended up with two copies of WINxp, one an incomplete install i presume and the original one probably messed up from the repair she tried to do before she tried the incomplete install.

I can't get to windows normally or through safe mode because it hangs up and sits there. I tried the microsoft suggestion of accessing the bios and disabling the caching and the shadowing, but the BIOS doesnt even have those options available

Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated!

Problem Solved

Thanks for the links, In the end I loaded up a bootdisk unto a floppy with fdisk, then used Nero to make a bootcd off that floppy...once i got to a command prompt on the laptop, I deleted the partition and was able to reinstall WINXP....

...I learned something new(making boot cds with Nero) very useful...

Thanks for the help!
