Case Fans

I just got a Zalman ZM-F1 80mm case fan and it had a 3 pin connector to mobo. I also had a Vantec Thermaflow, which had a 4 pin connector into the power supply connections. the thermaflow is working fine, but the zalman, when it is plugged in and the computer is turned on, it spins for 6 seconds and then stops.

what is the problem

I have no clue Do you have any 3 pin to 4 pin converters? Perhaps you could try to run it off a molex plug and see if it keeps going.

my vantec fans all came with a 3 to 4 pin adapters, I'm not sure if zalman's come with that or not

Well, something else he could do if he doesn't have teh converter is just rig soemthing up with some wires. Stick them in a molex plug and connect them to the correct ends on the fans. I'm pretty sure the colors match up just fine. Just remember there's an RPM sensor on most fans. you only need 2 to power ;P

yeah, the rpm sensor only works if you have it plugged into the motherboard, I believe it's the yellow wire that is the rpm sensor wire
