.avi files wont play in wmp for me

In my wmp if a file is .avi the movie will not play, it will appear as a grey screen with the sound. i have tried downloading the newer versions of wmp and the codecs but no luck, any sugesstions?

avi isnt ment to be supported by wmp!

It's hard to help when we have no clue what you are trying to play. AVI works off many different compressors/codecs. Look around for possible packs of these, or see if where you got it has some description of what codecs are required..

And AVI IS meant to be spported by WMP...duh, it's in the file associations ;P Just WMP doesn't come with all the codecs, such as Divx...
