having problems setting up slave drive.

it should'nt , when you reboot, it should straighten itself out.

just make shure the settings in bios are set correct

Edit: if i'm going to eventually clear my current hdd should i do it now or after i make my hdd act as slave?

i think im pretty much out of luck as far as setting up a slave drive, i think i'll just have my friend who'se a computer expert come over any get it set for me cause it's easier that way, but thanks for all the great help . One last question how do i format my current hardrive, it will make it alot easier if i can start out with a blank hdd?

Use a Windows 98 boot disk and type FORMAT C: at the dos prompt.
