The other day I was trying out my computer after not using it for a couple of weeks...

It's an Athalon 1.6mhz and the MB is: ECS K7S5A sis 735

It turns off after 3 seconds... occasionally it might make it to windows before it shuts off. I have to inplug it from the wall and then try again...

Does any one know what the problem may be? I've heard it could be the MB but I don't want to have to buy one and then have the same problem..

I've tried a different PSU and it still the same...

The fan comes on and I don't hear any beeps..

I removed the ram and it still did it.. I also took out the video card...

Can anyone help me out please!!! :)

Thanks for replying.. I'm not sure what card.. but...

If I try unplugging the card would the comp still run?

If it ran without the vid card we could then say that this is the prob...

I think I tried it before and it did the same thing...

no, it can't run without the vid card. do you have any other vid cards that you could switch with it?

if that doesn't work, you might have a bad motherboard...ECS isn't exactly a great motherboard

But would the vid card be faulty if sometimes I can get into windows and the screen appears to be fine i.e. no blinking or anything..

There's no beeps at all...
Should I just invest in a motherboard??

Are there any telltale signs that it's the CPU or MB??

could be the motherboard, that is a sign of a bad motherboard. I had a friend that had a computer that restarted randomly, turned out to be the motherboard
