Of course they weren't - but the idea was it was a 'truthful account of war' why would they purposely make the Americans look like prats if they weren't? Anyway - you're not American, why do you care about the American Armies uselessness?

I never said "The Thin Red Line" was an accurate portrayal of the movie. I said it was terrible. However...

My uncle was in Vietnam in the American Army for 24 months (two tours) and so were two of my great-uncles (who served in the American Military during WWII, to fight throughout Italy). So I give you a middle finger.

The thing was filmed a few miles from my house. Its a sweet WWII film. Lord K you should check it out if its possible to find it in the UK.
