PCI Express isn't that Express!

Ok, I have VERY VERY BAD NEWS for all those who did not know this.........

PCI Express isn't all that great. The reason is this:

Currently, all PCIe BUS channels run directly to the Northbridge from the Southbridge. However, so does the PCI bus... That means that on the 16X PCIe bus, all the PCI components take its performance down, and many of us have sound cards and NIC cards that run off of the PCI BUS. That means, if you had both of these, you would only have a 12X PCIe bus, and the MHz speeds would be reduced by 12MHz!! For EVERY PCI device hooked up, you loose 2X the PCIe BUS bandwidth, and 6MHz from its peak speeds. Well, that sucks eh? :( I am kind of upset about this. The only boards that have seperate bus line are linked below. So if you are going PCIe, use one of these boards.

BTW, anyone about to get SLi BETTER ORDER THIS BOARD, IT IS REALLY CHEAP, ONLY $185!!!

Guess what kiddies.... ASUS uses cheap manufacturing on their SLi so I have read. NO WONDER I HAD STABILITY ISSUES WITH 3 PCI BUS devices!! They do the PCI bus on the PCIe Southbridge, CHEAP ASSES!!

So, if you are going PCIe, then these are your only choice

man thats good info to know..i was thinking of ordering a SLI mobo very shortly...now that i know that i may just stick with AGP and save up to get that $900.00 ATI Radeon x800 256mb

Indeed, AGP does still have some advantages over PCIe, however, that doesn't mean you should go AGP (cards are dying off) Just get one of those boards above, and then Be Happy!

Pro allows a larger bandwidth with reduced latency, and fewer motherboard "stops" along the way. It is just all around better. Its like AGP 8X on steroids.

whoa!!!! thats sounds cool as anything...i shouild get that if i dont go pci-ex...btw zen would you recommend as of right now pci-ex or SLI configurations...
