Help a dumb girl out - Spyware/Malware

Hey everyone - I think I have malware on my computer but I'm a little scared to mess with it myself. I found this guide -

that works and the things they want u to download are the things the ppl on computerforums will tell u to get. hijackthis adaware and spybot get them and youll be good

People never mention Spysweeper. I'm not sure why. Webroot Spysweeper you have to pay for.. however, it is far better then its closest competitor, Lava-soft Adaware. The rest are pretty useless.
