After I did system restore, I realized that I was missing harddrive space. And if I tried to undo the system restore, I lost more hard drive space. Is there a way to get back this space or what in the world is eating up my harddrive space after system restore?

You may have too many restore points. Go to your accessories, system tools and disk cleanup. Initialize the disk cleanup and on the tab, more options, check keep only the last restore point. Disk cleanup will offer you other methods of liberation disk space.
If you have a burner, burn all the data you don't necessarily use (like mp3, movies, etc.) and then delete them from your disk. If you are so loaded, maybe you should consider getting another hard disk.

I've did that once its probaly means you didn't actally wipe the drive but you just used up the free space you already had

Clean out your system Via disk CleanUP, You know right click on local disk click on CleanUp and do it, lots of times, It saves old data, in temp files.
