How to keep from getting outsourced...

Hello, maybe this is a naughty question, but what makes a programmer marketable these days? With so many jobs disappearing (not all of them) what are the ones most likely to be retained?

I've heard that .NET programmers have the highest demand right now. Those that specialize in security run a close second. A lot of novice stuff (VBA, HTML, JavaScript) seems to be contracted or outsourced. Anyone heard different? Or anything around this topic?

Programmers are only useful if they're good. What they do is not generally important - if you're good enough you'll get a job.

.NET is quite important; probably the most wanted but .NET Programmers; if, again, they're good enough will often start up their own companies for writing software - and companies will purchase their services instead of get Developers on their salary.
