I was wondering if there is a way to connect high speed internet to two different houses about a half mile away with one connections.....thanks

Yer lol
A mile away wow.
There is somet i bet. Get some people to dig the ground up lol and place a wire underneth.

Ya I want to setup a network with my friend, I thought of using wire but, trust me, that wont work, to tell you the truth im more worried about getting lan cable thats long enough to connect our computers together

create a network using your local phone lines, i don't know how you can do that so someone else may need to help you there.

Hmmm... Try asking some other neighboors to be "super nodes" along the way. Then connect the wires together, or use wireless router to gate jump to each house to finally reach your friend. It would have to be wireless though.... Ask Athlon64FX about it, she is networking queen!!

You can get an 802.11 wireless based setup and use Yagi or parabolic antennas with range boosters to shoot the signal in that direction. much better effective range. you can shoot a singal pretty far with those.

if not you can get soem fiber optic cables (expensive but shoudlt be I mean they are plastic!!)

installing regular cat5e cables that way would invole way too many repaeters and you can only use so many of those and they are required every 100 meters. and using alot of repeaters will degrade signal too.

the best way is useing wi-fi with range extension or fiber optic. of course you can go microwave but its very expensive.

http://www.cantenna.com/ people actually took the whole prigles can idea and went commercial!

fiber optic is glass. And it'd be insanity to have a wire go across half a mile. LoL. i mean, i know it can go that far, but actually maintaining that wire will be such a hassle.

I llike ur idea of the wifi with signal booster.
