It can do that, but it usually just causes the FSB to be slower with the processor. However, your PSU could be the wrong voltage or something, who knows? Call up Intel... I cannot really help you without being AT YOUR HOUSE on YOUR PC... SRY

You have something to check the voltage coming out of the PSU? I forget what you call those.. but my dad has one... a voltage/electrical output checker I guess..

I changed the FSB in the BIOS settings and tried starting the pc with the new prescott cpu in, but still the pc wont POST..!

any other suggestions?
