Im debating on which video card to get the 9800 pro or the x700 there both around the same price range. I would love to get the x800 but i dont have the extra money. Any opinions would help thanks.

I believe the 9800 pro ony comes in AGP and the x700 only comes in pci-e. What type of mobo do you have? That may solve ur dilemma for you.

thats right, one of these, the x700 or x800 or x850 comes in AGP, but look to shovel out 800 bucks for that. The radeon 9800 pro is AGP which is probably what you hve. Check which slot your mobo has.

yeah i know the x700 is pci express and 9800 pro is agp im building a new system and im deciding which one to get though.

well if you have the extra money to get a pci-express and the x700 id suggest that, i prefer pci-e its superior to most agp cards, with some exceptions

Neither... Go nVidia 6600GT. That is a great card on a budget, and go PCI Express BTW. Here, I link you up to an AMD64 Mobo with PCI Express and a 6600GT card PCI Express.

Both companies are excellent (best in the business GigaByte and eVGA respectively) Buy those two things, and an AMD 939 Pin Processor of your choosing and budget, and you cannot loose!!

thing is i like asus mobos and how big of a difference would a 256 and a 128 mb video card be.

Well, the 6600GT is a great card, and is really cheap. It is only 128MB, but it really is OK nowadays. The most a game takes advantage of right now is DooM3 and HL2, with 64MB. DooM3 has Ultra setting with a 512MB, but those are not out yet. 128MB 6600GT will blow away a 9800XT with 256MB ram anyday, anywhere. However, if you are willing to fork out a bit more money, go with an ASUS A8N-SLi board, with DUAL nVidia 6600GTs! Total cost, about 1.600 for the PC, less if you have some parts and junk already.
