linksys router and xbox live

I hooked up a linksys router WRT54G and successfully connected to an adapter for my computer, and a gaming adapter for xbox live. Everything is working great alone......However, whenever I try to go online when someone is playing xbox live, it tells me there is no connection or times out. I changed the MTU with no result. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
