Counterstrike... Video Card? (Maybe Source)

Counterstrike (1.6) is VERY lagy when i play internet or even LAN. I think i need a videocard people
have been telling me but I dont know what kind or size I need. Or if its anything eles besides that... Thanks in Advance, Joe

will this take care of most of the LAG problem?
Is this the only thing thatI should do (any settings to change, ext) T
he AGP video card slot is the... (brown card slot)
This will also make most of my other games run smothly as well. right?

I currently do not have a card (using onboard).I have Intel Celeron and need a compatable card?

I need to play 1.6 but can this card also take Source.

Yes a 9600XT will run Source and you should notice a big difference over on-board video.

Celerons are pretty bad, but it's still good enough to play CS without too much lag.

i have a 16mb agp card and CS runs fine with NO lag or choppy frame rates

Yes, the card will run CS at max settings with no lag. The newer games it wont run as high but it will run them fine.

i have an older PC and run CS:S at nice settings. i have a 5700LE overclocked pretty well 500/575. my PC runs CS 1.6 just fine, and source at about 34fps.

here is what i have:

P4 1.3GHz
640MB PC800 RDRAM
5700LE 128mb GPU
Soundblaster Live 5.1 24bit Soundcard
2X20GB HDs
XP Pro


runs just fine for me, so i dont see why it wont for you.

are u sure it isnt ur connection? or sometimes it can be ur processes on ur comp that are active. try stopping them using task manager

connection as internet or acual conection? What processes should I stop if any? I dont see how that could be a problem w/ the video card.
