microsoft shut down

my friend has a problem with microsoft..... he got a message saying he needs to supply a cd key to miicrosoft or his compputer will stop running in ......now 25 days.... anyone have suggestions on y this is happening?

yah just click the little icon of the keys on the tasktray and activate it. it takes about 30 seconds

like a copied version of xp........... my fd says he used to be able to enter a key with all zeros and it would be fine but this time it isnt
