Apache with Windows

There's really no difference between a Windows and Linux network. They both rely on the TCP/IP protocal, like most other networks.

But I'll humble you: Yes, yes I have. It's incredibly simple.

Yes I have seen it done with some sort of emulartor.
Where does apache come into this though?

There is no such thing as a "Linux network" because Linux is not a networking protocol.
