so the time has come for me to buy a computer. i want to spend a little less than 2000 dollars so here is what i have so far. i was hoping you guys could critique slash give advice so i could improve my choices. THe only game i play is CS:S but i want to try doom 3 too i think. I want the comp to be fast and be able to do many things at once. Im sick of my computer refusing to let me be file sharing and watch a movie or play a game at the same time. thanks for any help slash advice slash flames on my ridiculous or dumb choices.

looks real good, except maybe you should look out for mobos w/ pci-E as that seems to be the future..... also, i have heard that CRT monitors are better for gaming, but i am not sure. wait for someone to clearify that

also, my friend has a wireless card made by netgear and is always having some kind of problem with it... i would recommend a good linksys or d-link card

You are overpaying for the PSU get a UltraX one at http://ZipZoomFly.com .
Upgrade to a 6800 NU atleast.
You are overpaying on the RAM I just got some similar XMS yesterday for $205.
Ditch the 90nm 3500+ I have one and and it sucks. Go with the 130nm one. If you go with the 90nm you will have to flash you bios and i am having trouble getting the board to recognize my RAM as 400DDR.

Make sure the chipset is the K8t800 *PRO*.

The Raptor is overkill, just get the one. And spend the extra money on a video card.

Also ditch the LCD and spend that on a video card. Get this CRT monitor, its the best one ever made. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=24-116-232&depa=1

the 135 is for the case and the psu. if im not mistaken the ultrax are around a 100, so i will prolly end up spending about 200 for that and a case, you think it is worth the extra 60 bucks over having an antec true power 430 and their case??? Ive always bought dell type computers before, never had to worry about power supply and case, seems like so much money just for the box to hold my computer. thanks for your help.

Theres nothing wrong with an lcd, for gaming or whatever. I've used one for over a year now, and once you try them you'll never go back.

I would reccomend D link wireless. Linksys security sucks (trust me I know). Netgear is unstable. D link is good.
