AMD or Intel?

hey guys.

i have an amd 64 2800+, bottom of the barrel.

I keep getting random lockups and freezes when i play games and junk.

I limited the reasons down to my processor.

I switched vid cards and it still happens.

switched memory, still happens.

so i'm guessing it's my cpu.

Anyone know how to solve dis problem?
perhaps the temps are too high?
at the moment i have the stock fan on.

this is utterly annoying, cause i wanted a rather decent processor when i bought this.

Anyone help??

have ya overclocked at all? It might be a software problem, or drivers not liking each other..

could it be spyware or driver conflicts as rd says.... also could be your 'stock fan" since those are cheap

i have a high end cooler. i'll take ur advice and install it again as soon as i get mah RMA.

But i jsut wanna know why would amd give me a shitty stock fan that doesn't work well with the processor at stock speeds.

dat's just bad. morally wrong.

well also if you do have it overclocked or improperly installed...

also stock fans are alwys cheap. they are rated for the exact processor and not above like mine is.

alwys buy collers that are rated above your cpu speed.

yeah, replace stock fans when ya use high end systems.

Actually I have one major warning on this one. If you replace the stock fan on the AMD 64 line you void the warranty. BTW, the stock fan is more then enough. I've check my temperatures and they are all good. Check if you applied adequate amount of heat transfer compound.
