CD broke in Computer CD Drive

Earlier today I was listening to a cd in my cdrom drive of my computer. A little bit later I heard a loud pop, and when I noticed it, my cd which I had inside the cdrom drive had busted into a bunch of pieces. I think I got most of the pieces out of it, but now everytime I try to close it, it stays closed for atleast 10 seconds, and then automatically pops open again. What caused my cd to just break into a bunch of pieces and is my cdrom drive broken now? I really appreciate whatever help you can provide for me. Thanks.

try taking it out of the case, and take it apart (very carfeully!) hopefully most of the pieces will fall out then.

if it recked our CD, dont use it again.

The reason it kept opening after 10 pieces is because there is a piece of your CD Depp in the drive...Do what crazyman said and take it out and take the bits out as carefully as you can

yea thats all good, but what acually caused that thing to BOOM? wtf... that never even heard of that happening
