not really. they have the same heat problems as dell. and also they are about the same build.a huge pain to open and fix. taken one apart myself. could not get it all apart no matter what i did this was in 2000 i dont knwo how they are taking apart now but others ive taled too were very angry when i mentioned their laptops!!

I am not sure now if i want something small and compact, like a Sony Vaio....or a desktop replacement, like a 17 inch Toshiba. I will be doing lots of video and photo editing, and music d/l mainly. Along witha bit of gaming. Any advice?

Yea, but they are expensive. And even more expensive when you start to add features.

but they last very long time. most laptops last a year or two then it just falls apart literally. my ibm lasted 7 years!!!
