My uncle gave me an XP Home/Pro disc with a LEGIT licenese and i went through the installation until it came up to the key entry i entered it, said it was invalid. Then i realized that my brother had installed Home instead of Pro (Which the key was for). So now im stuck in the installation screen trying to reformat it any ideas on how to reformat this HDD in the middle of an OS installation?

P.S. I already tried disabling the HDD and using "FreeDos" it locked up. :(
HELP!

go into BIOS and make sure the cd drive is the first thing thats booting up. put in the OS cd that you want to isntall and restart your computer and before your computer goesi into the installation where you left off it should start up the new Installation.

yah, and if he gave you the OS cd with the driver's cd as well, you can install the OS , booting up w/the driver's cd 1st. to do a system restore.

it will ask you to do a formatt, yes, it will erase all files.
then reboot, then option 2 for the install, it will ask you for the win. xp cd....that's it.

the good thing about installing windows with ths driver's cd, is that it won't ask you to activate it.
