windows 98 boot up password

Just dug out my old pc and tried to boot it up but for some reason it is now asking me for a password,it gives me three attempts then the system is halted.What can i do to get into windows.???
I am not a computer wizard ,so any help would be gratefull

well, you could try to flash the bios, but 1st i would try taking out the little battery that sits next to the memory card(s).

to do this : unplug the power cord, then open er up & look around near the memory sticks. there will be a small silver battery about the size of a nickle there.

take it out, and let it sit for bout 5 minutes....then put it back in, and that should clear out the password you had in their.

The pc is quite old but i will try what you said and look for the little battery...like i said ,i am a novice but will have a go

Yeah, batterey should work.

just one more thing, after you do this you might have to reset your clock at the bottom right of the task bar.
