I have upset my machine.
Ok i'm not very computer literate so any respose would be appreciated as though talking to a 5 year old.)

Right i have.had XP Home edition on my pc and a friend lent me XP professional which i was going to upgrade to.
I put in the CD and went through the instructions by saying it was an upgrade.
The cd ran half way through and then stopped. Gave me a blue screen with error messages on it and then closed down.
I restarted my machine and it keeps going back to the XP startup page and keeps repeating the above and wont let me install it.
Also it wont let me run it in anysort of safe mode.

Is there something i can do to restore my old setting etc or have i killed it. please help.

Also if i need to formatt my hard drive how do i do this???
And after i have done this do i just load up the CD's which came with my pc???

Relax...
With other computer, copy yours important files and make a backup, then format the hard disk and install Win Xp Pro. (try to get professional corporated version ;) ). That I would do in your case.

Open your computer and take off the hard disc, so use other computer with Win 2000 or XP and make a backup.

...Do you know how to install a hard disc in a computer?
