When I try to install Linux on my 20GB hard Drive, and whenever it installs, the program says that it cannot automatically partition the drive. So, what do I do exactly?

Or install a proper Operating System like Windows XP? 
Some Linux installations are a bit messy; somebody who's done it before would be a better bet.

If your drive is unparticianed you need to do so.
You can us an msdos 6.22 boot cd or a win98 or millenium oem cd rom or emergency boot floppy. At the command prompt type fdisk<enter>
Then follow the prompts

No, no. He's installing Linux. There's no need for a msdos or any other MS boot disk. fdisk won't help.
I see now from the title you're using SuSE. I haven't used SuSE for years, but YaST should be able to do the whole thing for you.
The reason it says it can't do it automatically is probably because it wants you to specify how you want the partitions laid out. This is especially important if you are trying to dual-boot.
