I got a amd 64 2800+.

at the moment it's running at 1.9 gig.

what is a safe temp for this processor to run at.

also, what temperature utilities do you guys use.

cuz i can't seem to find any. and the one that came with soltek's mobo doesn't work well.

thanks all.

Anything below 75 C, is good. Some can go up to 80-90 C, but thermal breakdown occurs around 135 C, but it depends on the chip. AMD are a little hotter then Intel, because of the manufacturing process.

The coolest thing about the newer (last 2 years) cpus, both Intel and AMD are that the have shutdown temperature built into the chip. The motherboard reads the temp and when the cpu is getting close to unsafe temps, it shuts itself down.

That's a pretty cool feature.

I fact my mother cpu fan broken and wasn't spinning. The computer would shutdown, and the cpu saved itself. Put in a new fan and away we go.

Intel uses will be over 50ish. Us amd's will be well below 50 idle. I am 37C idle and 43 load.

And dude, if you say AMD is hotter than intel , im just gunna sit and laugh at you. LOL LOL LOL

yay, bring back old threads.
nobody uses temperature monitoring utility here?
please help, as this is essential in oc'ing my cpu.

Dude, this stuff comes with ur mobo. You need a mobo with a sensor.
